It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to reach out to the community. It’s shaping up to be a busy fall/winter with speaking engagements. We’re not planning on doing our regular seminars until the New Year, so I thought I’d update you with some of the events we’re participating in.
First up is Microsoft Tech Days (www.techdays.ca). This is a great opportunity to learn about a wide spectrum of Microsoft technology at a deep technical level. I’ll be speaking on Upgrading Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 to SharePoint Server 2010 (www.techdays.ca/sessions/CLB372), so if you’re looking at moving to SharePoint 2010 from 2007, I’d recommend coming out.
Next up we’re a finalist for a 2010 Microsoft IMPACT Award for Community Leadership. We’ll find out November 9 how we fare, and you can read more about it at www.envisionit.com/News/Pages/Envision-IT-is-a-Finalist-in-the-2010-Microsoft-IMPACT-Awards.aspx.
A few days later (November 13) we’ll be at SharePoint Saturday Toronto at the Microsoft Canada headquarters (www.sharepointsaturday.org/toronto). I have an Extranet session that you can learn more about at http://www.sharepointsaturday.org/toronto/meetings/20/SharePoint2010asanExtranetPlatform.aspx, as well as potentially a business case study session.
A busy week wraps up with another talk to the McMaster MBA class on Knowledge Management on November 15.
December is Toronto SharePoint User Group meeting time (December 15), with a topic still to be determined (I’m open to suggestions). You can find out more at www.meetup.com/TorontoSPUG.
In the New Year, we start off with the SharePoint Summit (www.sharepointsummit2011.com/Toronto) from January 31 to February 2. This is the first time the summit has been held in Toronto, and we’re looking forward to three days of great SharePoint sessions. As well as leading two sessions (SharePoint Extranet Scenarios and Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada and Microsoft SharePoint) we are a sponsor at the Summit, so look for us out on the exhibitor floor.
